Tanzania Premier League side Young Africans SC will be chasing history as they host Algeria’s USMA in the first leg of the 2022/2023 TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup this afternoon at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium.

After seeing off South Africa’s Marumo Gallants 4-1 on aggregate, the Young Africans SC are confident that they have what it takes to get a good result at home before traveling for the return leg.

The good news for Young Africans is that the tickets for the match are sold out and a lot of support will be expected for the home team.

Nasreddine Nabi, the Young Africans SC head coach has made it clear that his players are ready for the challenge and know what to expect. “We are hurt to miss midfielder Khalid Aucho through suspension. But the rest of the players are motivated and prepared to go out and get a good result,” added the coach whose team has not lost a match at home in the competition.

In-form Fiston Mayele who has netted six goals in the competition is expected to lead his goal hunt for the home side.

But the USMA coach Abdelhak Benchikha has also made it clear that they are here for a mission and deserve to be in the final. “We deserve to play in the final. My boys fought very well and now we are very close. Everything will be decided in the second leg at home. We Algerians we fear no one,” he added.

After the first leg the President of Tanzania Samia Suluhu Hassan has provided a plane that will fly the team and some fans to Algiers for the return leg and back to Tanzania.
