Bumamuru FC win 2022/2023 Burundi Premier League title
Bumamuru Football Club are the 2022/2023 Burundi Premier League champions.
The team from Western Burundi lifted the trophy on the last day last Saturday after stopping Olympic Star FC 5-0 in a match played at the Urunani Stadium.
Alfred Nkurunziza netted a hat-trick, while Richard Bazombwa and Pepe Munyampala were also on the score sheet.
Bumamuru FC completed the League with 68 points, one ahead of the 2021/2022 champions Flambeau du Centre. “We are happy to win the League title after a very hectic season,” said Nkurunziza after the match.
In the other matches played last Saturday Flambeau du Centre picked a 1-0 win against Rukinzo FC, while Atletico N.O.A managed to collect maximum points wining 3-1 away to Kayanza United FC at the Gatwaro Stadium.
Burundi’s most successful Club Vital’O who have won the Premier League title 20 times stopped B.S Dynamik 1-0 to finish in fourth place on the log with 54 points. Aigle Noir who won the League title in 2018/2019 struggled to defeat Musongati FC 3-2 in a match played at the NPPC Stadium, while Magara Y.B and Inter Stars settled for a 1-1 draw, and Tigre Noir stopped bottom placed Top Junior 1-0.
Bumamuru Football Club will now represent Burundi in the 2023/2024 TotalEnergies CAF Champions League.

Primus Burundi Premier League 2022/2023 to be decided on last day
It’s a two horse race in the 2022/2023 Primus Burundi Premier League expected to climax on May 20th, 2023.
Bumamuru FC currently top the log with 65 points from 29 matches played, while the reigning champions Flambeau du Centre are in second place with 64 points.
On Wednesday the two top teams picked draws in their respective matches with 12th placed B.S Dynamik holding Bumamuru FC to a goalless draw at the Urukundo Stadium, while Flambeau du Centre were also held away to a 1-1 draw by 13th placed Inter Stars FC.
In the other matches played third placed Messager Ngozi FC suffered a 2-1 defeat away to Rukinzo FC in a match played at the Urunani Stadium.
Buja City FC also picked a 1-0 win against Vital’O FC, while Tiger Noir FC were in good scoring form humbling Kayanza United 4-1 at the Urunani Stadium. The match between Top Junior FC and Magara Y. B ended goalless, while Inter Stars FC and Flambeau Centre ended 1-1.
The champion of the Primus Burundi Premier League will now be decided on May 5th, 2023 when all the last eight matches are played. Table leaders Bumamuru FC will face 9th placed Olympic Star FC, while Flambeau Centre will take on Rukinzo FC.
Vital’O are the most successful Club in Burundi having lifted 20 League titles.

Serbian Medic happy to guide Flambeau Du Centre win Burundi League title
The head coach of Flambeau Du Centre FC Momcilo Medic has said he is happy to guide his team to win the 2021/2022 Burundi Premier League title.
Flambeau Du Centre FC lifted the title last weekend after the Championship was decided on the last day.
Three teams went into the matches with a chance of lifting the title, but it was Medic’s team that picked a vital 2-1 win against Athletico New Oil Football Academy to snatch the trophy.
Leonard Gakwaya and Issa Hakizimana netted for Medic’s team, while Arafat Yasser Tuyisenge scored for Athletico New Oil Football Academy at the Umuco Stadium.
Medic’s team finished top with 53 points, while Athletico New Oil Football Academy came second with in the 52 points.
Bumamuru FC who lost 2-1 to Messager Ngozi FC at the Urunani finished third with 51 points.
“I am happy because my team has worked really hard through out the season and kept focused to win on the last last,” said the head coach Medic.
The former Orlando Pirates coach in South Africa also made it clear that they will try to strengthen the team ahead of the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League.

Burundi Premier League: Vital’O stop table leaders Bumamuru FC
Former giants Vital’O defeated table leaders Bumamuru FC 2-0 in a Primus Burundi Premier League match played last weekend.
Mpuki Juslain Mbembi gave Vital’O the lead after 8 minutes at the Urunani Stadium. After 21 minutes Kevin Ndayi Senga made it 2-0.
The win pushed Vital’O to 7th place with 36 points, while Bumamuru FC remained top of the log with 45 points after 24 matches played.
In another match played second placed Athletico New Oil FC where held to a goalless draw by 10th placed Olympic Star FC. Athletico New Oil FC have 43 points from 24 matches played.
Third placed Top Junior FC humbled Flambeau de I’Est 3-0, while Rukionzo FC humbled Musongati FC 2-0. Burundi Sport Dynamique also registered a 2-1 win against Royal FC, Flambeau du Centre picked a 2-0 victory against Olympic Star, and Les Crocos FC stopped Buja City 2-1.
With six games remaining in the 2020/2021 Primus Burundi Premier League for each team, the battle for the title remains between Bumamuru FC, Athletico New Oil FC and Top Junior FC.
