CECAFA representatives JKT Queens have collected a second point at the on-going 2025 CAF Women’s Champions League in Egypt.

JKT Queens settled for a 1-1 draw against ASEC Mimosas from Ivory Coast in a Group B match played on Wednesday.

Ester Maseke gave the Tanzania Women’s League champions the lead after only 8 minutes played at the Right to Dream Stadium in Cairo.

JKT Queens continued to attack and pushing upfront in search for more goals, but the ASEC Mimosas defended well.

Later in the second half team ASEC Mimosas pushed forward and earned penalty after a bad tackle by a JKT Queens defender. Erika Gnounoue converted from the spot after 82 minutes to level matters.

The draw means ASEC Mimosas went top of Group B with 4 points, while TP Mazembe who defeated Gaborone United 3-0 are second with 3 points, and JKT Queens third with 2 points. The Tanzanian side will now need to beat TP Mazembe in their last Group B match on November 15^th if they hope to qualify to the knock out stage

Tanzania’s JKT Queens have earned a point in their goalless draw against Gaborone United Ladies of Botswana as the CAF Women’s Champions League entered Day 2 on Sunday in Egypt.

JKT Queens who were making their second appearance at this stage having made their debut in 2023 had some good chances to score through Winfrida Hubert Gerald and Stumai Abdallah Athuman, but failed to take their chances at the Suez Canal Stadium, Ismailia

Gaborone United, the CECAFA Zone champions came all out in the second half, but also failed to penetrate the JKT Queens defending line.

With the clock ticking away JKT Queens’ goalkeeper Najiati Abass Idrisa saved Keitumetse Dithebe’s penalty after 90 minutes to ensure the Tanzanian side earned a point. Idrisa had denied Kesegotetse Mochawe in the 88^th minute from the spot, but the referee ruled a retake.

JKT Queens will return to action against Group B table leaders ASEC Mimosas on November 12^th at the same Stadium. The Cote de Ivoire team earned a 1-0 win in their opening match against TP Mazembe on Sunday.

A Winfrida Gerald headed goal after 5 minutes was enough to win it for JKT Queens in the final played against Rayon Sports WFC on Tusday at the Kasarani Stadium in Nairobi, Kenya.

In the second half the Rwanda Women’s Champions Rayon Sports WFC tried to get back in the game, but failed to break down the JKT Queens defence.

The Tanzanians were limited to counterattacks and fast transitions, but they were defensively solid and better organized.

Azishi Kondo, JKT Queens head coach said he was confident his team would win the title. “We came here to lift the title and the mission is now accomplished. I thank the players and staff for the hard work,” added Kondo.

It was JKT Queens’ second regional title after they lifted the trophy in 2023. They are now the only team to win the regional trophy twice, while Vihiga Queens, Simba Queens and Commercial Bank of Ethiopia have lifted it once.

Elsewhere, a first-half goal from Margret Kunihira was enough to hand Kenya Police Bullets third place over Kampala Queens (Uganda).

Tanzania’s JKT Queens marched into the CAF Women’s Champions League CECAFA Zonal Qualifiers semifinals with a 2-0 victory over South Sudan’s Yei Joint Stars at Kasarani Stadium on Thursday.

With a semifinal slot on the line, both sides displayed discipline early on, keeping tight spaces and relying on short passing. JKT looked sharper in attack, but Yei’s goalkeeper Nawal Majok produced brilliant saves to keep her side alive in the opening half. The game went into the break goalless, but full of promise.

The second half saw JKT raise their intensity. Just minutes after the restart, Jamila Rajab broke through Yei’s defense to calmly slot home the opener.

In the 68th minute, Esther Maseke doubled the lead with a curling strike that Majok could only get a hand to. Yei struggled to keep possession and found it hard to recover as JKT grew in confidence with their two-goal cushion.

“We were facing a better side—stronger and more tactical. That’s why we applied a defensive approach,” explained Yei Joint Stars coach Yamba Yves after the match.

The result sealed JKT’s place at the top of Group C, setting up a mouth-watering semifinal clash against hosts Kenya Police Bullets. In the other semifinal, Uganda’s Kampala Queens will take on Rwanda’s Rayon Sports on 14th September.
