JKT Queens win Tanzania Women’s Premier League
JKT Queens WFC are the champions of the 2024/2025 Tanzania Women’s Premier League.
The League was decided on May 20th with five matches played at different Stadiums. JKT Queens who also emerged champions in the 2022/2023 season came top.
JKT Queens stopped Gets Program 5-0 in a match played at the Jumhuri Stadium in Dodoma, while second placed Simba Queens WFC defeated Alliance Girls 2-0.
The JKT Queens team finished with 47 points just like Simba Queens, but scored more goals and conceded less. Yanga Princess who recruited massively during the transfer season finished third with 39 points.
JKT Queens who boost of star players like Winifrida Gerald and Stumai Abdallah among others will now represent Tanzania in the CAF Zonal Champions League qualifiers.

Uganda’s star player Allan Okello joins Tanzanian giants Young Africans SC
Uganda Cranes midfielder Allan Okello has joined Tanzania Premier League giants, Young Africans Sports Club.
The announcement was made by the Tanzania Premier League reigning champions on Monday night.
Okello who was part of the Uganda Cranes squad at the on-going TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025 in Morocco arrived in Tanzania on Monday and had a successful medical.
“Vipers SC thanks Okello for his professionalism, commitment and decisive contributions during one of the most successful periods in the club’s history and wishes him the very best in the next chapter of his career,” added his former Ugandan side Vipers SC.
The 25-year old star player Okello who also helped Vipers SC win a double last season was also part of the Uganda Cranes team that reached the quarter final stage of the TotalEnergies CAF African Nations Championship (CHAN) last year hosted by the three East African Nations Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania.
Okello also went to X (formerly Twitter) and thanked Vipers SC for the wonderful two and half years he spent with them. “I bid farewell very pleased with this chapter of my career, and I’m also excited for the next to begin. I take with me wonderful and unforgettable memories,” said Okello.
Having joined Vipers in September 2023 following his return from Algerian side Paradou AC, Okello quickly established himself as the team’s creative player. In the 2024/2025 season he was Vipers Sc’s top scorer with 19 goals.
Other Ugandan players who have featured for Young Africans SC before include; Khalid Aucho, Hamis ‘Diego’ Kizza, Juma Balinya and Emmanuel Okwi.

JKT Queens stop Simba Queens to win Women’s Community Shield
JKT Queens have added more silverware to their already growing cabinet after bagging the Tanzania Women’s Community Shield.
Fresh from winning the CAF Women’s Champions League CECAFA qualifiers last month, JKT Queens stopped arch-rivals Simba Queens 2-1 in the final of the Community Shield played at the KMC Complex on Sunday.
Winfrida Gerald gave JKT Queens the lead, and Asha Omary netted an own goal to give the Zonal champions a 2-0 half time lead. Towards the end of the match Simba Queens pulled a goal back.
To reach the final Simba Queens ejected Mashujaa Queens 2-0, while JKT Queens saw off Yanga Princess in penalty shoot-outs 6-5 after a 1-all draw.
JKT Queens head coach Kessy Juma will now have huge task of preparing the team to defend the League title and also put up a good show in the CAF Women’s Champions League.

Wallace Karia re-elected Tanzania Football Federation President
Wallace Karia has been re-elected as president of the Tanzania Football Federation (TFF).
Karia, also a CAF Executive member was re-elected securing a fresh 4-year mandate during a TFF Elective general assembly held at the Tanga Beach Resort on Saturday.
“I want to thank the delegates for giving me another mandate to serve Football in the country. It was not a simple journey because the challenges we faced are a reminder that we have work ahead of us, and we must deal with them,” said Karia.
He went ahead to re-appoint Athuman Nyamulani as First Vice President in-line with the TFF constitution. The second Vice President is Nassoro Idrisa.
The other Executive members include; Evance Mgeusa, Deborah Mkemwa, Azan Salim Muft, Issa Bukuku, Salum Kulunge, Mohamed Aden, James Mhagama, Khalid Mohamed, Somoe Ng’itu and Hosseah Lugano.
