The final stage of the 2025 CAF Women’s Champions League CECAFA qualifiers final is set with Rayon Sport WFC set to face former champions JKT Queens in the final on Tuesday in Nairobi, Kenya.

Rayon Sport WFC, the Rwanda women’s Champions ejected Kampala Queens (Uganda) 4-2 in penalty shootouts in the first semi final after the match had ended goalless at the Kasarani Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

After a 1-1 draw in 120 minutes of action, the 2023 champions JKT Queens also eliminated Kenya Police Bullets 4-2 on penalties in the second semi final match that kept spectators on their toes.

In the first semi final Rayon Sports goalkeeper Angeline Ndakimana saved two penalties. The two sides created some decent scoring opportunities but failed to make them count Kampala Queens coming closest when Zaituni Namaganda unleashed a brilliant strike off Catherine Nagadya’s setup, but Rayon Sports’ goalkeeper Ndakimana produced a superb save to keep her side alive.

In the penalty shootout, Rayon held their nerve to convert four spot-kicks through Scholastique Gikundiro, Jeannette Ukwinkunda and Angelique Umuhonza. Kampala Queens scored through Teddy Najjuma and Shakirah Nankwanga and two of their penalties saved by heroic Ndakimana.

The second semi final clash saw the two teams come all out, but Kenya Police Bullets took an early lead through a penalty. Diana Wacera converted the penalty, but Jamila Rajab leveled matters for JKT Queens after 38 minutes.

The two teams continued to probe and probe searching for more goals, but wasted numerous chances in the final third. During the penalty kicks JKT Queens were the better side scoring all the four, while Kenya Police Bullets missed two.

Rayon Sports WFC will no face JKT Queens in the final on Tuesday, while Kenya Police Bullets and Kampala Queens face-off in a play-off for third place.

Tanzania’s JKT Queens marched into the CAF Women’s Champions League CECAFA Zonal Qualifiers semifinals with a 2-0 victory over South Sudan’s Yei Joint Stars at Kasarani Stadium on Thursday.

With a semifinal slot on the line, both sides displayed discipline early on, keeping tight spaces and relying on short passing. JKT looked sharper in attack, but Yei’s goalkeeper Nawal Majok produced brilliant saves to keep her side alive in the opening half. The game went into the break goalless, but full of promise.

The second half saw JKT raise their intensity. Just minutes after the restart, Jamila Rajab broke through Yei’s defense to calmly slot home the opener.

In the 68th minute, Esther Maseke doubled the lead with a curling strike that Majok could only get a hand to. Yei struggled to keep possession and found it hard to recover as JKT grew in confidence with their two-goal cushion.

“We were facing a better side—stronger and more tactical. That’s why we applied a defensive approach,” explained Yei Joint Stars coach Yamba Yves after the match.

The result sealed JKT’s place at the top of Group C, setting up a mouth-watering semifinal clash against hosts Kenya Police Bullets. In the other semifinal, Uganda’s Kampala Queens will take on Rwanda’s Rayon Sports on 14th September.

Kenya Police Bullets FC are the first team to qualify for the semi finals at the on-going CAF Women’s Champions League CECAFA qualifiers 2025 in Nairobi, Kenya.

Coach Beldine Odemba’s registered their second straight win in Group A seeing off Denden FC 2-0 in a match played at the Nyayo Stadium on Wednesday.

Emily Kemunto Moranga’a and Ugandan international Zaina Namuleme scored first half goals to ensure the Kenyan champions bagged their second straight win.

Kenya Police Bullets FC who beat Kampala Queens WFC (Uganda) 1-0 in their opening match became the first team to advance to the semi-final stage.

“We are happy that we have won all our matches and qualified for the semi final stage. We need to keep working hard ahead of the knock out stage,” said Kenya Police Bullets coach Odemba.

Rezene Gebregiorgis Remoz, the Denden FC coach said although they failed to qualify for the knockout stage, he is happy that his young players got the exposure playing against other teams in the region.

Action returns on Thursday with Top Girls Academy (Burundi) facing 2024 champions Comercial Bank of Ethiopia in a Group B match, while South Sudan’s Yei Joint Stars take on JKT Queens (Tanzania) in a Group C encounter.

Kenya Police Bullets FC marched into the semifinals of the CAF Women’s Champions League CECAFA Zonal Qualifiers after a 2-0 victory over Eritrea’s Denden FC in a Group A clash at Nyayo Stadium.

The home side looked lively from the onset, pressing high and creating several goal-scoring opportunities. Their early dominance paid off in the 7th minute when Emily Kemunto struck to hand Police the lead. Despite squandering more chances, the Bullets doubled their advantage in the 34th minute through Zaina Namuleme, who coolly slotted home from a well-worked move.

Police went into the break 2-0 up, but Denden returned for the second half more organized defensively. The Eritrean side held firm, frustrating Coach Beldine Odemba’s charges, who were left ruing missed opportunities to kill off the game.

Despite enjoying better spells in midfield, Denden FC failed to carve out clear-cut chances to trouble the Bullets’ backline. In the end, the Kenyan champions secured all three points.

Though out of the tournament Denden FC Coach Rezene Gebregiorgis hailed his team composure having settled in from the first game anxiety. With a young team he felt the experience gathered is good for the teams growth and expects to be better with time.

Kenya Police Bullets have now confirmed their place in the semifinals, finishing top of Group A. They now await the winner of Group C who will either be JKT Queens or Yei Joint Stars in the Semi Final stage
