The draw for the Council of East and Central Africa Football Associations (CECAFA) U-17 Women’s Championship 2026 will take place on May 21^st, 2026 in Kampala, Uganda.

Yusuf Mossi, the CECAFA Competitions Manager confirmed that the draw will be conducted at 11.30am (East African time) at the FUFA TV headquarters in Mengo.

The tournament which will attract seven teams will take place June 13-23 in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

“We shall hve seven teams being drawn and placed in two groups. We are appy that for the first time Somalia and Sudan will also send Women’s teams for this Championship,” added Mossi.

The draw will be conducted the CECAFA’s Head of Marketing and Communication, Andrew Jackson Oryada.

The Championship will also help teams from our Zone that would have qualified for the last stage of the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup qualifiers prepare better.

The seven teams to be drawn include

Kenya Police Bullets WFC are the champions of the 2025/2026 FKF Women Premier League.

The Police side bagged their third straight title on Sunday after seeing off Madira Assasins 1-0 in a match played at the Police Sacco Grounds in South C, Nairobi. Rebecca Okwaro netted the lone goal.

After 21 matches Kenya Police Bullets finished with 52 points, five ahead of second-placed Ulinzi Starlets. They only lost two matches and drawing twice.

Ulinzi Starlets also completed their season with a 7-1 humbling of Bungoma Queens, while Kibera Soccer Ladies finished third on the log.

Kenya Police Bullets will now represent Kenya in the 2026 CECAFA Zonal CAF Women’s Champions League qualifiers to be hosted by Rwanda.

Kawempe Muslim Women Football Club are the 2025/2026 FUFA Women’s Super League champions.

Handled by experienced coach Ayub Khalifa Kiyingi, the Kawempe Muslim team defeated Olila High School 3-1 in the deciding match played at the Valley Grounds on Sunday.

On the final day of the League, two teams (She Corporate and Kawempe Muslim) had a chance to lift the trophy if they registered wins.

While Kawempe Muslim Women’ FC won 3-1, She Corporate settled for a goalless draw against She Maroons.

Jovia Nakagolo, Latifah Nakasi and Agnes Nabukenya netted the goals to ensure the Kawempe Muslim side returned to win the League title again.

“I am very happy that the team worked hard to reclaim the title we have won before,” said a happy Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC coach.

Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC who will now represent Uganda in the Zonal CAF Champions League qualifiers finished with 52 points, one ahead of She Corporate FC.

Tanzania have qualified for the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup 2026 to take place in Poland.

The Tanzanite Queens defeated Cameroon 2-0 in the return leg of the 4^th round of the qualifier in a match played at the New Amaan Stadium in Zanzibar on Sunday.

Tanzania lost the first leg 3-1, but the 2-0 win enabled them to qualify on an away goal’s rule after the two teams tied 3-3 on aggregate.

Mary Aaron netted in the first half goal, while Hasnath Ubamba made it 2-0 in the second half. The home side continued to attack in numbers as Cameroon defended and always tried to move forward on the break.

“We are very happy to qualify for the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup. I thank the players for working very hard to get this far and making history,” said Tanzania’s experienced Women’s coach Bakari Shime.

On Saturday another team from the Council of East and Central Africa Football Associations (CECAFA) Uganda bowed out after settling for a 1-1 draw against Ghana and bowing out on a 3-2 goal aggregate.

Tanzania now join Ghana and Nigeria to represent Africa at the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup 2026. The fourth slot will be decided later tonight when Ivory Coast face Benin in the return leg after the two teams settled for a 1-all draw in the first leg.
