CHAN 2024: Coach McCarthy names Harambee Stars provisional squad

Kenya has announced a provisional squad ahead of the TotalEnergies CAF African Nations Championship (CHAN) 2024.
Head coach Benni McCarthy unveiled the 30-man squad on Wednesday evening.
Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda will host the CHAN competition from August 2-30th. The competition that will feature 19 teams is exclusive to players competing in their domestic leagues.
The leading scorers in the Kenya Premier League Moses Shuma, and Emmanuel Osoro who netted 17 and 16 goals respectively have also been invited. Kenya will enter camp on July 10th.
The Harambee Stars will play their opening Group A match against DR Congo on August 3rd at the newly renovated Kasarani Stadium. The other teams in the same group include Angola, Zambia and two time champions Morocco.

CHAN 2024: Tanzania to open campaign against Burkina Faso

The Taifa Stars of Tanzania will open their campaign against Burkina Faso in the TotalEnergies CAF African Nations Championship 2024.
Coach Hemd Suleiman’s side will play the opening Group B match of the Championship on August 2nd at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam.
The Championship co-hosted by Tanzania, Uganda and Kenya will run from August 2-30th with matches being played in five venues.
Kenya will battle former CHAN champions DR Congo in a Group A battle on August 3rd at the Moi International Sports Centre Kasarani, while Uganda take on Algeria in a Group C tie the next day at the Mandela National Stadium, Namboole.
CECAFA’s fourth representatives Sudan will also take to the field on August 5th for a Group D clash against Nigeria.
According to the schedule the Group Stages matches will be played from August 2-19th, with the quarterfinal games played between August 22-23rd.
The semifinals will be played on 26th, the third place playoff will come on 29th August, while the final will take place the next day at the Moi International Sports Centre-Kasarani in Nairobi.
The CHAN tournament which started in 2009 is played between players playing in their national league competitions.

CHAN 2024: Uganda names provisional squad ahead of CAF African Nations Championship

Uganda Cranes provisional squad has been named ahead of the TotalEnergies CAF African Nations Championship (CHAN) 2024.
Newly appointed coaches Fred Muhumuza and Morley Byekwaso named the 41-man squad on Saturday.
Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania will co-host the Championship meant for local based players plying their trade in the local Leagues in their respectively countries August 2-30th.
The Championship was originally meant to take place last year, but was rescheduled to 2025.
Uganda Cranes are placed in Group C alongside Niger, Guinea, South Africa and Algeria and will play their group matches at the Mandela Stadium, Namboole.
Uganda will be making their seventh appearance in the CHAN tournament strictly for national teams consisting of players playing in their national league competitions.
Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania and Sudan will represent the CECAFA Zone in the CHAN tournament.
