St. George stop Sebeta City to extend lead in Ethiopia Premier League
St. George Football Club stopped Sebeta City 3-1 in a 2021/2022 Betway Ethiopia Premier League match played Adama on Wednesday.
The win saw the former giants extend their lead on the log to six points ahead of second placed Welayta Dicha.
Ghanaian player Edwin Frimpong gave Sebeta City the lead after 5 minutes in a match played at the Adama Science and Technology University Stadium.
But St. George fought back to level matters through Bereket Samuel before the interval.
In the second half Amanuel Gebremichael and Addis Giday got their names on the score sheet to make sure St. George picked maximum points.
In another game played Hadiya Hossana settled for a 1-1 draw with Fasil Ketema. Bezabh Melayo gave Fasil Ketema the lead, but Kale’ab Wisshibet leveled matters. Fasil moved to 3rd place on the log, while Hadiya Hossana FC are in 11th place.
Action returns today with Sidama Coffee facing Ethiopian Coffee, while Wolkite Ketema take on Adama City in the League which has 16 teams.

Hawassa City FC sign Eritrea’s Ali Sulieman
Eritrean international Ali Sulieman Ibrahim has joined Ethiopian Premier League side Hawassa City FC.
Ibrahim who was one of the top scorer’s at the CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup 2019 held in Uganda transferred from another Ethiopian side Bahir Dar Kenema FC on Friday.
The 24-year old who signed for Bahir Dar Kenema in July 2021 finished the season with five goals. His team finished 12th on the log, while his new Club Hawassa City FC finished 4th. St. George emerged champions of the 2021/2022 Ethiopia Premier League.
Another Eritrean international Robel Teklemichael also last week extended his contract with Ethiopia Premier League side Coffee FC.
Besides the two Eritrean Internationals several other players from the CECAFA region include; Charles Lukwago (St. George/Uganda), Kenya’s Erick Kapiato (Arba Minch City), Chrizestom Ntambi (Sedama Coffee/Uganda) and Derrick Nsibambi (Sebeta City FC/Uganda).
