Goalkeeper Awuor wins Romania Women’s League title with Farul Constanta
Kenyan goalkeeper Lilian Onyango Awour has helped Farul Constanta win the 2023/2024 Romania League title.
Farul Constanta beat Universitatea Cluj 2-1 on Sunday to clinch the title with two more matches to be played. It was also Farul Constanta’s first-ever league title in their first season in top flight football.
Awour who participated in almost every match since joining in February has been instrumental for the team.
Farul thus dethroned Universitatea Cluj, the reigning champion for the previous twelve years. ” Winning the title with Farul Constanta is a very good feeling because it has been real hard work, ” said Awour.
The 24-year-old shot-stopper, who initially signed a three-year deal with Soyaux in January 2022 also had a stint with Olympique De Valence. Before her European ventures, she had a successful spell with Vihiga Queens FC where she also played a pivotal role in the team’s representation at the inaugural 2021 CAF Women’s Champions League in Egypt.
Awuor who also features for the national team represented Kenya at the 2016 Africa Women Cup of Nations.

Tanzania exit FIFA Futsal Women’s World Cup 2025
Tanzania suffered a 9-0 defeat to Japan at the ongoing FIFA Futsal Women’s World Cup on Saturday in Philippines.
The second defeat in their last Group C match saw Tanzania exit the world event.
Japan, the reigning Asian Champions proved a class apart for the Tanzanian team in a match played at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig.
Ryo Egawa and Yuka Iwazaki netted a brace each, while Naomi Matsumoto, Mizuki Nakamura, Kaho Ito, Kyoka Takahashi, and Anna Amishiro also had their names on the score sheet.
Tanzania kick started their campaign with a 10-0 defeat against Portugal, but recovered to stop New Zealand 4-2 in the second match.
Portugal and Japan have already qualified for the quarter finals to join the likes of Colombia, Argentina and Spain among others.
The FIFA Futsal Women’s World Cup 2025 is the inaugural edition of the FIFA Futsal Women’s World Cup featuring 16 teams.

Tanzania defeats New Zealand in FIFA Futsal Women’s World Cup 2025
The Tanzania team has collected their first win at the ongoing FIFA Futsal Women’s World Cup 2025 in Philippines.
After losing the opening match to Portugal, Tanzania defeated New Zealand 4-2 in a Group C match played at the PhilSports Arena on Wednesday.
The first half ended 1-1 after Mary Siyame scored for Tanzania, while Hannah Kraakman also netted for New Zealand.
After recess Siyame added two more goals, while Winifrida Mathias also had her name on the score sheet for Tanzania. Jess Verdan scored New Zealand’s second goal.
While Portugal who defeated Japan 3-1 are top of the group with 6 points and are already through to the knock out stage, Tanzania will have to win their last match against Japan on November 29th to qualify.
Africa’s second team at the FIFA Futsal Women’s World Cup Morocco also recovered from their 6-0 defeat to Argentina in the opening Group A match, to defeat hosts Philippines 3-2.

Rude welcome for Tanzania in FIFA Futsal Women’s World Cup
Tanzania have kick started their FIFA Futsal Women’s World Cup 2025 on a losing note.
In their opening Group C match Tanzania suffered a 10-0 defeat to Portugal in a match played on Sunday at the PhilSports Arena in Philippines.
The Tanzania team will return to action against New Zealand on November 26th, and later take on Japan three days later.

JKT Queens exit CAF Women’s Champions League, pick lessons
Tanzania’s JKT Queens have exited the on-going CAF Women’s Champions League 2025 in Egypt
Going into the last Group B match on Saturday against TP Mazembe, the CECAFA champions needed a win to advance to the knock out stage.
Despite scoring early through Stumai Abdallah after 14 minutes, JKT Queens lost 4-1 to the DR Congo team. After their 1-1 draw against Gaborone United and ASEC Mimosas, the Tanzanian team finished with two points.
Kessy Abdallah, the JKT Queens coach said that although they failed to advance to the next stage, the team has learnt some lessons.
“We played three matches, drew twice and lost once. Our young team has learnt a lot on how to handle matches at this big stage,” explained Abdallah.
The coach explained that the team did not respond well especially on the defending side, but also failed to take the many scoring opportunities they created.
