Kenya’s Raising Stars and Tanzania exhibited good football when the two teams settled for a 2-all draw in a Group B match at the on-going Cecafa U-20 Challenge Cup in Uganda. The draw at the Fufa Technical Center Stadium sends the two teams to four points each and straight to the quarter finals.

After 29 minutes Kenya’s Austine Otieno Odhiambo showed lots of confidence dribbling past two Tanzanians defenders and shot past goalkeeper Ally Salim Katoro. But after 10 minutes Tanzania leveled matters with Andrew Albart Simchimba scoring his fourth goal of the tournament.

In the second half the two teams came all out attacking and defending in numbers. Patrick Otieno put Kenya back into the lead after 52 minutes after capitalising on a well taken Musa Masika Wanyama cross.

But Tanzania did not give up and responded quickly with a goal after 56 minutes through Abdul Hamis Suleiman.

Kenya now top Group B with four points and a better goal difference than Tanzania who also have the same number of points. Tanzania will face Zanzibar, while Kenya take on Ethiopia in their last Group B matches on Thursday.

Kenya’s coach Stanley Okumbi said praised the two teams for playing good football. “I am happy to see the young lads express themselves well on the pitch,” said Okumbi.

His counterpart Zeberi Katwila, the Tanzania coach said his defenders made some mistake, but added that they will work hard to win the last group game against Zanzibar before the knock out stage.

Meanwhile, Cecafa has announced that all quarter final matches will be played in Njeru and Gulu on September 29th instead of the earlier arrangement of September 29th and 30th.

The group stage of the regional tournament sponsored by FIFA will climx on Thursday before the quarter finals on September 29th. The semi finals will be played October 2nd and the final on October 5th in Gulu district.
