Young Africans to face Uganda’s Express FC in CECAFA Kagame Cup

Tanzanian giants Young Africans SC will face 2020/2021 Uganda Premier League champions Express FC in the group stage of the CECAFA Kagame Cup.

Young Africans SC have been placed in Pool C alongside Express FC and guest side Nyasa Big Bullets FC (Malawi) for the regional tournament slated for August 1-15th in the Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

In the draw conducted on Tuesday by the CECAFA Executive Director, Auka Gecheo, the defending champions from Uganda KCCA FC were placed in Pool A to face Le Messager Ngozi (Burundi) and Zanzibar’s KMKM SC. Tanzania’s second team Azam FC will battle South Sudan’s Altabara FC and Tusker FC (Kenya).

“After the group stage matches the team that is placed 9th will head home, while the others play in the quarter finals stage,” said Gecheo. He said the best ranked team will face the 8th ranked, while the 2nd ranked team takes on the 7th ranked team. The 3rd ranked team will play the 6th tanked and the 4th ranked battles the 5th ranked.

The tournament will be played at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium (Taifa) and Azam FC’s Chamazi Stadium. Defending champions KCCA FC will kick off the tournament with a game against KMKM SC on August 1st.
