Uganda draw Rwanda in 2020 Total African Nations Championship
Regional representatives Uganda and Rwanda will battle in Group B at the 2020 Total African Nations Championship slated for April 4-25th in Cameroon. The two teams were last night placed in the same group together with Togo and defending champions Morocco to be based in the town of Doula.
The draw at the Palais Polyvalent des Sports de Yaoundé was conducted by CAF Director of Competitions Samson Adamu and two former Cameroon national team players, Stephen Tataw and Salomon Olembe.
CAF President Ahmad Ahmad together with the Cameroonian Prime Minister Joseph Ngute and the Minister of Sports and Physical Education, Narcisse Mouelle Kombi also graced the ceremony.
Tanzania, the other representatives from the Council of East and Central African Football Associations (CECAFA) region are placed in Group D together with Guinea, Namibia and Zambia who are handled by former Uganda Cranes coach Milutin Sredojevic.
Hosts Cameroon are placed in Group A alongside Mali, Burkina Faso and Zimbabwe a considerably tough Group. Two time winners DR Congo will battle in Group B alongside Libya, Congo Brazzaville and Niger.
The CHAN tournament is exclusively for players featuring in their respective national championships.
DR Congo have won the CHAN title twice (2009, 2016), while Tunisia won the title in 2011. Libya lifted the trophy in 2014 and Morocco in 2018.
