Uganda Cranes defeated Niger 3-0 in their last match of the Pre-CHAN Mini Tournament played at the Annex 1 Omnisport in Yaounde, Cameroon on Thursday.

Milton Karisa netted a brace, while Saidi Kyeyune also got his name on the score sheet to give coach Jonathan McKinstry’s team a morale boosting victory ahead of the Total Africa Nations Championship (CHAN).

The second game saw Zambia defeat hosts Cameroon 2-0. Uganda Cranes completed the Pre-CHAN Mini tournament top with 7 points after picking a 1-1 in the opening match against Cameroon and a 2-0 win against Zambia.

“There are several things we have learnt from the Pre CHAN Mini Tournament. First, it was about testing all players by having a good time on the field and getting the final squad for the CHAN Final Tournament itself,” said Uganda’s coach McKinstry.

Another team in the Cecafa region Rwanda also registered a 2-2 draw against Congo in a Pre-CHAN Mini tournament match played at the Amahoro Stadium in Kigali yesterday.

The CHAN tournament with 16 teams taking part will take place January 16th to February 7th.
