The Serengeti Girls of Tanzania will this afternoon host Cameroon in the return leg in the final round of the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup  2022 qualifier.

Tanzania is only 90 minutes from making history to qualify for the World event if they hold their nerves at the Amaan Stadium in Zanzibar.

Coach Bakary Shimes’s team shocked Cameroon in the first leg winning 4-1.

“We are well prepared for the match against Cameroon. We know they will be here to attack us and score more goals,” said Shimes. He however says his team is still hungry to score more goals.

The coach made it clear that they will work so hard to qualify because making it to the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup will mean a lot for Tanzania and the CECAFA region as well.

Striker Clara Cleitus Luvanga who is the leading scorer in the qualifiers with 10 goals is expected to play a pivotal role in finding the net to help Tanzania book a place in the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup.

Meanwhile, Nigeria and Morocco secured qualification on Saturday. Although the return leg at the Moshood Abiola Stadium ended goalless, Nigeria’s Flamingos sealed their place because they won the first leg 1-0 in a match played in Addis Ababa  two weeks ago.

Morocco who lost the first leg 2-0 away in Ghana also won the return leg by the same margin in a match played in Rabat, and made no mistake winning 4-2 on penalty kicks.
