Tanzania’s Simba SC suffer defeat away to RS Berkane

Tanzania Premier League side Simba SC faltered after losing to RS Berkane in a Group D TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup tie played in Morocco on Sunday.

Two first half goals were enough for the home side to win 2-0 and move top of the log in Group D.

Adama Ba put RS Berkane in the lead after 32 minutes, before Charki Bahri netted the second after 41 minutes.

Simba SC did not create so many descent chances, but had Kennedy Juma and substitute Bernard Morrison coming close. Five Simba SC players who were booked include; Morrison, Henock Inonga Baka, Erasto Nyoni, Joash Onyango and skipper John Bocco.

While the Moroccan side go top of the log with six points, Simba Sc slipped to third with four points, while Niger’s USGN who beat ASEC 2-0 moved to second with the same number of points like Simba SC, but a better goal difference.

The Tanzanian side will now wait to host RS Berkane on March 13th in Dar es salaam. Simba SC started their group campaign with a 3-1 win against ASEC, before picking a 1-1 draw away to USGN.

Simba SC reach CAF Confederation Cup quarter-finals

Simba Sports Club have qualified for the quarter-final stage of the 2024/2025 TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup.

The Tanzanian top side secured a crucial 1-1 draw against Bravos do Maquis in a Group A match played at the 11 de Novembro Stadium in Angola.

After a defensive lapse by Simba SC, Mosiatlhage Keoikantse Abednego gave the hosts the lead after 13 minutes. Leonel Ateba leveled matters after 69 minutes to ensure that Simba SC secured that vital point.

Fadlu Davids, the Simba SC head coach praised his players for the working hard to fight back and score after going a goal down. “I thank the team for the hard work and we continue to work hard because we have another last match of the group,” added the coach.

The draw sends Simba SC to the quarter-final stage with 10 points, while table leaders CS Constantine who beat CS Sfaxien 2-0 lead with 12 points.

Simba SC who beat Bravos do Maquis in Dar es salaam and now secured another draw in Angola will now wait to host table leaders CS Constantine on January 19th, 2025 in Dar es salaam.

Tanzania’s Simba SC snatch vital away win against CS Sfaxien

A lone goal by Jean Charles Ahoua was enough to give Simba SC a vital 1-0 win away to CS Sfaxien in a Group A match of the 2024/2025 TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup.

After stopping the Tunisian side 2-1 in the first leg, Simba SC made sure they collected maximum points against the same side to brighten their hopes of making it to the quarter-final stage.

Ahoua netted the lone goal after 34 minutes at the Stade Olympique Hammadi Agrebi.

The win sends the Tanzanian giants to 9 points in second place behind CS Constantine who humbled Bravos do maquis 4-0 in a later game played on Sunday.

Simba SC will next play away to third placed Bravos do maquis on January 12th, 2025 and host CS Constantine in the last Group A match on Janaury 19th, 2025 in Dar es Salaam.

President Samia Suluhu applauds Simba SC for stopping CS Sfaxien in CAF Confederation tie

The President of Tanzania, Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan has applauded Simba SC following their 2-1 win against CS Sfaxien in a TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup match played on Sunday in Dar es salaam.

Sfaxien took an early lead through Hazem Haj Hassen after only three minutes at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium, but Simba SC fought back strongly.

Denis Kibu leveled matters four minutes later and netted the winning goal nine minutes into added time.

The win sends Simba SC to six points and third on the log, while Bravos do Maquis who beat CS Constantine last evening 3-2 move top of Group A.

Following Simba SC’s hard fought victory, the President of Tanzania Samia Suluhu Hassan has come out to congratulate them for the good display.

“Congratulations to the Lions Club for the victory in the Confederations Cup game in Africa against CS Sfaxien. You continue to give Tanzanians happiness and entertainment by flying the flag of our country internationally, while we continue to remain united in work, peace, unity, stability and solidarity. Simba SC, CECAFA’s only representatives in the Group stage of the TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup will next travel to face CS Sfaxien on January 5th, 2025 in Tunisia.

Simba SC suffer defeat away to CS Constantine in CAF Confederation Cup

Simba Sports Club have suffered a 2-1 defeat away to CS Constantine in a Group A match of the 2024/2025 TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup.

Mohamed Husseini Mohamed gave the visiting Tanzanian side the lead after 24 minutes at the Chahid Hamlaoui Stadium, Constantine in Algeria.

But the hosts fought back strongly before Simba SC’s Abdulrazack Hamza netted an own goal to make it 1-1 after 46 minutes. Four minutes later Brahim Dib put CS Constantine ahead to make it 2-1.

The two sides continued to create several scoring opportunities, but the home side stood firm to collect maximum points to keep top of the log. CS Constantine lead the log with 6 points.

In the second Group A match played on Sunday Bravos do Maquis defeated CS Sfaxien 3-2. Simba SC stopped Bravos do Maquis 1-0 in their opening group match.

The Tanzanian side will next host CS Sfaxien on December 15th at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
