Luvanga, Assresahagn nominated for CAF Award
Four players from the CECAFA region have been nominated in the Young Player of the Year (Women’s category) ahead of the CAF Awards 2022.
The Awards that will have categories for the women and men will be graced by CAF President, Dr. Patrice Motsepe and his executive will take place on July 21st in Rabat, Morocco.
Tanzania’s Clara Luvanga who was the top scorer in the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup qualifiers and helped her team qualify together with Ethiopia’s Rediet Assresahagn have all made the provisional list. Uganda’s Fauzia Najjemba and Rukiya Bizimana (Burundi) are also on the list.
They will battle for the Award with other top players like Gift Monday (Nigeria) and Ghana’s duo of Evelyn Badu and Doris Boaduwaa among others.
Bizimana has also made the list for the Player of the Year (women) together with Uganda’s prolific striker Fazila Ikwaput.
The clubs that have been nominated for the Club of the Year Award include TotalEnergies Women’s Champions League 2021 winners Mamelodi Sundowns Womens FC, Hasaacas (Ghana), Wadi Degla (Egypt), AS Far (Morocco), AS Mande (Mali) and River Angels (Nigeria).
