SOMALIA NEWS: Banadir FC win 2021 Somali Inter-State final

Banadir Football Club are the champions of the Somali Inter-State tournament after they stopped Gal- Mudug in the final on Thursday.

After battling to a 2-all draw after 90 minutes, Banadir FC showed more calmness when it came to the penalty kicks winning 3-0.

Nageeye Deeq Mahmoud gave Gal-Mudug the lead with in seven minutes after the match kicked off at the Nanadir Stadium with a well taken free kick. But after 15 minutes Sahal Abdi Farah leveled matters for Banadir FC.

In the second half Gal-Mudug came all out attacking in numbers before Nageeye made it 2-1 after 51 minutes. Banadir FC tried to fight back to level matters, but found a well organised Gal-Mudug backline.

With three minutes to full time Mohiyadin Jamal Omar made it 2-2 to send the Banadir FC fans cheering. During the penalty kicks Banadir FC showed more precision at goal to win 3-0.

Somali Football Federation (SFF), vice president for regional development Abdullahi Sheik Nor Ahmed said the tournament was successful and very competitive.

“I am fully delighted that we have done a spectacular tournament which was the most interesting and populous event since the inter-State tournament was launched in 2016,” added Nor Ahmed.

He also commended Somali Football Federation staff for managing to professionally organize the tournament.
