Song’s Arta Solar 7 slip-up in Djibouti Premier League
Arta Solar 7 FC have slipped in the 2022/2023 Djibouti Premier League and will not be able to defend the title they have lifted in the last two seasons.
Led by the former Arsenal and Barcelona midfielder Alex Song, Arta Solar 7 suffered a 3-1 defeat to second placed Asas/Djibouti Telecom in a match played on Saturday at the El-Hadji Hassan Stadium, Gouled.
With one match to be played for the former champions, the defeat leaves Arta Solar 7 in third place with 30 points from 15 matches played. Asas/Djibouti Telecom are second on the log with 34 points.
In another League match played on Saturday sixth placed FC Dikhil/SGTD defeated SDC/Group Hopital 2-0.
Table leaders CF Garde Republicaine/SIAF maintained their lead on the log with a 2-1 win against CF Gendarmerie on Friday night, while AS Port ACS also picked a 2-1 victory against Hayabley/CNSS.
CF Garde Republicaine could be crowned champions on May 26th, 2023 if they manage to beat Arta Solar 7. But incase the table leaders fail to win their last League match, ASAS/Djibouti Telecom could win the title on May 27th, 2023 if they pick maximum points against ACS Hayabley/CNSS.

CF Garde Republicaine win 2022/2023 Djibouti Premier League title
CF Garde Republicaine/SIAF are the champions of the 2022/2023 Djibouti Premier League.
The team was crowned on Saturday after the climax of the Djibouti Premier League at the El-Hadji Hassan Gouled Aptidon Stadium.
After picking a 4-2 win against arch-rivals and former champions Arta Solar 7 on Friday, CF Garde Republicaine/SIAF finished top with 39 points after 16 matches played.
ASAS Djibouti Telecom who stopped ACS Hayablem/CNSS 1-0 in their last League match on Saturday finished second with 37 points, while Arta Solar 7 came third after picking 30 points.
In the other matches played on the last day of the League As Port beat Q5/Nourrie Transit 3-0, while CF Gendarmerie picked a 2-0 victory against FC Dikhi.
During the awards ceremony the President of the Federation Djiboutienne de Football (FDF) and 3rd CAF Vice President, Souleiman Hassan Waberi handed over the trophy to the new champions.
CF Garde Republicaine/SIAF who won their second Premier League title will now have the chance to play in the 2023/2024 TotalEnergies CAF Champions League.

AS Arta Solar 7 retain Djibouti Premier League title
AS Arta Solar 7 have retained the Djibouti Premier League title.
The team whitewashed bottom placed Arhiba 12-1 in their last game of the 2021/2022 season on April 23rd before they were crowned champions.
After 18 games AS Arta Solar 7 finished with 45 points after winning 14 matches, drawing three and losing only one.
Former Barcelona, Arsenal Alexandre Song is part of the AS Arta Solar 7 playing squad. “Thanks, guys we did a great job,” Song wrote on his Instagram page after winning the title again with AS Arta Solar 7.
