Eritrea ready to host Tanzania in FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup qualifier
Eritrea will host Tanzania in the second round of the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup qualifiers in Asmara.
Esayas Abraham, President of the Eritrean National Football Federation (ENFF) told Cecafaonline that they are ready to host the first leg on September 25th at the Dendem Stadium.
“We are prepared to host the match and the team is preparing well ahead of the match,” said Esayas Abraham.
Eritrea ejected Djibouti 6-1 on a aggregate in the first round last month. Eritrea last hosted an international match on September 4th, 2019 when the national men’s team faced Namibia in the preliminary round of the FIFA World Cup 2022 qualifiers.
The teams in the CECAFA region that will be in action between September 23-25th in the second round of the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup qualifiers include; Rwanda, Ethiopia, Burundi, Kenya and Uganda.
Costa Rica will host the 2022 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup which will be the 10th edition. The biennial international event was meant to be hosted by Costa Rica in 2020, but was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It is now scheduled to take place next year.

Tanzanian international Tukumbuke happy to join Besiktas Women’s Team
Tanzanian forward Opa Clement Tukumbuke Sanga has said she is happy to join Besiktas Women’s team.
The prolific striker who signed a deal with the Turkish Women’s Football team over a week ago said that she is always glad to have new challenges.
“It is a dream come true to play professional football again in Europe. I thank my new Club for signing me, and I will work hard to make sure help the Club achieve it’s set ojectives,” said Tukumbuke.
The striker who made her debut for the Tanzania national team during the 2020 COSAFA Women’s Championship returns to Turkey for a second spell after playing for Kayseri Kadin FK in early 2022.
Before signing for the Turkish side, Tukumbuke was the leading goal scorer in the Serengeti Lite Women’s Premier League with 9 goals she netted for Simba Queens.
Tukumbuke who has been a leading scorer in most of the CECAFA Zonal tournaments also guided Simba Queens SC to the semi final stage of the 2022 CAF Women’s Champions League that was held in Morocco.
“We are happy for Opah and wish her the best of luck with her new team,” said Simba Queens head coach Charles Ayiekoh Lukula.

Crested Cranes forward Najjemba settling in well at Dyanamo Moscow WFC
Uganda Crested Cranes forward Fauzia Najjemba has said she is settling in well at her new Club Dynamo Moscow Women Football Club.
Najjemba joined the Russian Club last month after her one year contract with Kazakhstan champions BIIK Shymkent came to an end.
“All is getting on well at the new club and the technical team and all players have been very welcoming. I feel at home here,” says Najjemba.
The Uganda Women’s U-20 team captain said she cannot wait for the new season in Russia to start. “We have been having lots of games in the pre-season and I am settling in well,” she added.
The former Kampala Queens player recently played in the UEFA Women’s Champions League qualifiers for BIIK Shymkent.

FIFA selects Kenya’s Njoroge for World Cup playoff in New Zealand
The Federation of International Football Associations (FIFA) has selected Kenyan assistant referee Mary Njoroge to officiate at the playoff for the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023.
The playoff to be hosted in Aotearoa, New Zealand from 17-23 February 2023, will see 10 teams compete for the final three qualifying spots for the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023.
Njoroge, who was also selected to officiate at the FIFA Women’s World Cup in France 2019 is among the 29 match officials selected from all over the world to officiate at the tournament.
“This appointment couldn’t have come at a better time. This is God. We needed something to give us hope after a very difficult period in our refereeing career and this is it,” said Njoroge in an interview.
The ten teams that have qualified for the tournament are Cameroon, Chile, Chinese Taipei, Haiti, Panama, Papua New Guinea, Paraguay, Portugal, Senegal, and Thailand.

Simba Queens to face Bayelsa for third place
CECAFA giants Simba Queens will face Nigeria’s Bayelsa Queens in the play-off for third place at the on-going 2022 CAF Women’s Champions League.
Simba Queens put up strong performance last night in the first semi final, but lost 1-0 to reigning champions Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies team at the Prince Moulay Al Hassan Stadium, Rabat in Morocco.
Simba Queens captain Opah Clement and Asha Djafari had opportunities to score, but the Mamelodi Sundowns goalkeeper was up to the task.
In the second half Mamelodi Sundowns netted the lone goal through the Lesotho international Boitumelo Rabale who capitalized on a good Melinda Kgadiete cross to score after 76 minutes.
Charles Lukula, the Simba Queens coach says his team put up a good performance, but failed to take their chances. “We played against defending champions and gave a good account of ourselves. We shall now go back and plan for the play-off match,” added the coach.
Simba Queens will now face the Nigerian side on November 12th in Rabat. Beyelsa Queens lost 1-0 to Morocco’s ASFAR in the second semi final match played last night.
