Zanzibar heroes become the first team to qualify for Cecafa Tourney semis
Zanzibar Heroes held Kenya’s Harambee Stars to a barren draw at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos on Saturday to become the first team to qualify for the semi finals of the 2017 Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup. Harambee Stars dominated the clash but good defending from Zanzibar ensured the clash ended barren.
The point earned took the Heroes points tally to seven with a game to spare atop group ‘A’ while the Stars are on five points from a win and two draws. Kenya will have to wait for their final match against Tanzania to confirm qualification.
Earlier on Rwanda had recorded their only win in the tournament with a 2-1 against Tanzania’s Kilimanjaro Stars. The win could not help much having lost two and one of their previous matches, and so the Antonio Hey guided side bow out of the tournament on a high.
