Tanzania’s Premier League reigning champions Young Africans SC will face Rivers United in the quarter final stage of the 2022/2023 TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup.

According to the draw conducted on Wednesday night in Cairo, Egypt, the Nigerian side will host Young Africans SC in the first leg on April 23rd, while the return leg will be played a week later.

To reach the quarter final stage, the Nigerian side finished second in Group B with 10 points behind ASEC Mimosas who collected 13 points. Young Africans SC finished top of Group D with 13 points ahead of Tunisia’s US Monastir who also had the same number of points but a lower goal difference.

Cedric Kaze, the Young Africans SC assistant coach has made it clear that they will have to work hard because all teams in the quarter finals are no push overs. “We need to prepare well on how we must approach Rivers United and every leg will be very important,” he added.

The winner between Young Africans SC and Rivers United will face the winner between Pyramids FC (Egypt) and Marumo Gallants (South Africa) at the semi-final stage.

The other quarter final pairings have Tunisian side US Monastir take on ASEC Mimosas, while USM Alger (Algeria) and Morocco’s ASFAR Club will also face-off.

The semis will be played on 14 and 21st May.
