Young Africans SC stop Mtibwa to increase lead in Tanzania Premier League

Young Africans (Yanga) have stopped Mtibwa Sugar 2-0 to increase their lead in the 2021/2022 NBC Tanzania Premier League to eight points.

Coach Nesreddine Nabi’s team pushed forward from kick-off, but the home side defended in numbers at the Turiani’s Manungu Complex in Morogoro Region on Wednesday.

After too much pressure Saidi Ntibazonkiza gave Young Africans SC lead with few extra minutes added after the 45.

In the second half Mtibwa Sugar returned determined to level matters, but Young Africans closed the gaps.

Fiston Mayele made it 2-0 for Young Africans after 66 minutes. The table leaders continued to create more scoring opportunities, but failed to find more goals.

Young Africans SC, the only unbeaten team in the NBC Tanzania Premier League have now collected 39 points from 15 matches played. Their rivals and the 2020/2021 League Champions are second with 31 points with the same number of matches played.

Mtibwa Sugar FC who are second from the bottom of the log on 15th place have only collected two wins from 15 matches and have 12 points.
