Tanzania Premier League giants Young Africans SC will be all out to try and make  history as they face Marumo Gallants FC in the first leg of the 2022/2023 TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup semi final on Wednesday.

Coach Nasreddine Nabi has called on the fans to come in big numbers to cheer the team for the entire match because this first leg at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium means a lot.

Young Africans SC go into the semi final for the first time having ejected Nigeria’s Rivers United FC 2-0 on aggregate, while the South African side upset Pyramids FC of Egypt.

“I ask you tomorrow, let’s cheer for all the 90 minutes even when the team doesn’t have the ball. Let’s not be silent; let’s fight to cheer and give our players strength because this is not an easy game as many think,” said Nabi on Tuesday.

Young Africans SC who have not lost any match at home in the Confederation Cup this season will look to in-form Fiston Mayele who has netted five goals already, while the visitors will also hope their leading striker Ranga Piniel Chivaviro finds his scoring touch.

After failing to go past Al Hilal in the CAF Champions League, Young Africans dropped to the CAF Confederation Cup where they ejected Club Africian from Tunisia in the play-off and went on to top group D that had Union Monastirienne (Tunisia), Real Bamako (Mali) and TP Mazembe (DR Congo).

The first leg of the second semi final clash in the TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup between hosts ASEC Mimosas from Cote d’Ivoire and Algeria’s USM Alger will also take place on Wednesday. The return legs of the semi finals will be played on May 17th, 2023.
