Young Africans SC coach Nabi happy to win Community Shield 2021

The head coach of Young Africans SC, Nesreddine Nabi has said he is happy they started the season by lifting the Community Shield 2021.

Nabi’s team stopped arch rivals Simba SC 1-0 in the final of the Community Shield played on Saturday at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam.

Fiston Mayele netted the lone goal after 12 minutes after the Simba defenders failed to clear out of danger. Simba SC also had Ugandan international Taddeo Lwanga was sent off.

“This is a very good start and am hoping we can continue with the momentum through out the season,” said the head coach.

Young Africans SC a week ago exited the TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup falling 2-0 on aggregate to Nigeria’s Rivers United.

But Nabi has said beating their rivals can be the best motivator had of many games to come in the 2021/2022 season.

This year alone Young African SC beat Simba SC 4-3 in penalties to win the 2021 Mapinduzi Cup. In the Mainland Tanzania Premier League, the two teams drew 1-1, while Young Africans SC won the second round 1-0.
