Uganda’s Anaku signs for Dundee United

Ugandan striker Sadat Anaku has joined Scottish Premier League side, Dundee United FC on a a two year contract.

After impressing during trails, the player was unveiled on Thursday. He joins the Scottish side from Uganda Premier League Kampala Capital City Authority FC.

“ I am so excited to join Dundee United and I am ready to work hard to help the team achieve it’s goals,” Anaku told the Club’s media team.

Jack Ross, Dundee United head coach said he was impressed by Anaku’s mental strength to settle in the team a few weeks when he had joined for trials.  “I’ve been really impressed with Sadat since he came in. You have to have a certain mental toughness to come in from overseas and settle. Sadat has done that by leaving a really good impression on the players and staff at United,” said Ross.

Anaku was among the players selected by the Ugandan Government to be part of the “Team Fundi” project, showcasing the talents of the country’s top 22 players in a series of games at a Spanish training camp in February this year.

Anaku now joins another Ugandan international Bevis Mugabi in the Scottish Premier League. Mugabi plies his trade with Motherwell FC.
