Uganda stun Ghana, Guinea thrash Togo in exciting CAN qualifying group

Uganda claimed a surprise 1-0 home victory over Ghana to revive their hopes of reaching next year’s African Cup of Nations finals as Guinea thrashed Togo 4-1 away from home to throw the Group E race wide open.

 

Savio Kabugo scored the winner for Uganda after 10 minutes as his side moved joint second in the group with seven points along with Guinea, one behind leaders Ghana with one game remaining.

Togo are fourth with six points after losing to Guinea, who claimed an impressive victory via a hat-trick from Seydouba Soumah and a goal from Idrissa Sylla. Emmanuel Adebayor notched Togo’s consolation from the spot.

All four have a chance of reaching the 2015 Nations Cup in Equatorial Guinea. Ghana face Togo and Uganda play Guinea in the last round.

The top two in each group and the best third-placed side in the seven groups will reach the 2015 Nations Cup.
