Uganda Cranes to face Uzbekistan in Navruz Cup final

Uganda Cranes will face hosts Uzbekistan in the final of the Navruz Cup 2022 at the Navbahor Stadium tomorrow.

Coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic’s team defeated Tajikistan 5-4 on penalties last Friday after a 1-1 draw in normal time.

Uzbekistan also made it to the final after seeing off Kyrgyzstan 3-1 in the other semi final match played last week.

“ Playing in this event gives our players a good test ahead of our upcoming international engagements,” said Uganda Cranes coach Sredojevic.

The Uganda Cranes who were invited to the Invitational tournament by the Uzebekistan Football Federation.

Uganda are using the Navruz Cup to test players ahead of qualifiers for the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2023 and TotalEnergies African Nations Championship (CHAN) 2023.

Meanwhile in other international friendly matches played last week Tanzania defeated Central African Republic 3-1 before Sudan settled for a goalless draw against the same Central African Republic in matches played in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

Ethiopia also suffered a 2-1 defeat away to Comoros, while Bahrain stopped visiting Burundi 1-0 on Saturday.
