Tusker FC exit TotalEnergies CAF Champions League

The Kenya Premier League reigning champions Tusker FC have been ejected in the second preliminary round of the 2021/2022 TotalEnergies CAF Champions League.

Coach Robert Matano’s side suffered a 4-0 defeat away to Egyptian Premier League champions Zamalek this evening to exit the tournament on a 5-0 goal aggregate.

Youssef Obama netted a brace, while Seifeddine Jaziri and Achraf  Bencharki also got their names on the score sheet to guide Zamalek to the group stage of the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League.

To reach the second preliminary roung Kenyan eliminated Djibouti’s AS Arta Solar 7 4-1 on aggregate in the first round.

Tusker FC now drop to the play-off stage of the TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup.

On Saturday two other CECAFA teams will be in action with Al Merreikh who have a 3-0 advantage playing away to Zanaco FC in Zambia, while APR FC (Rwanda) face Etoile du Sahel in Tunisia. The two teams drew 1-1 in the first leg in Kigali.

On Sunday the 2020/2021 quarter finalists Simba SC (Tanzania) will host Jwaneng Galaxy FC, while Al-Hilal (Sudan) play Nigeria’s Rivers United in a match that will be played at the Suez Stadium in Egypt.
