Tough Mapinduzi Cup semi final ties set in Zanzibar

The Mapinduzi Cup 2022 semi finals take centre stage this evening at the Amani Stadium in Zanzibar.

NBC Tanzania Premier League side Azam FC who won all their matches in the group stage will take on defending champions Young Africans SC in the first match.

Young Africans SC who are also currently top of the NBC Tanzania Premier League are expected to make some changes today. They will however continue to miss Ugandan international Khalid Aucho and Fiston Mayele who were given a short break.

Azam FC will also welcome the return of Aggrey Morris and Mudathir Yahya who were serving suspension and new signing from Simba SC Ibrahim Ajibu.

The second semi final clash between Simba SC and Namungo FC also promises to be a thriller.

Simba SC are taking nothing for granted as they are fielding almost all their top players to try and reclaim the Mapinduzi Cup.

To reach the semi final stage Simba SC beat Selem View FC 2-0, and drew goalless with Mlandege FC. Namungo FC also registered a 2-1 victory against Meli 4 City FC and another 2-0 win against Yosso Boys FC. They lost 1-0 to Azam FC.

The Mapinduzi Cup is organized by the government of Zanzibar and the Zanzibar Football Federation (ZFF). The competition is a played to commemorate Zanzibar’s Revolution day which is marked annually on January 12th.
