Tanzania’s Simba SC in Zimbabwe ahead of CAF Champions League tie

Vodacom Tanzania Premier League Champions Simba SC have made an early arrival in Harare ahead of their second round Total CAF Champions League Preliminary Round match against FC Platinum.

The two teams will clash on December 23rd in Harare before the return leg in Dar es Salaam between January 5-6.

While Simba SC ejected Nigerian side Plateau United 1-0 on aggregate in the first round of the preliminary, FC Platinum saw off Mozambican side Costa do Sol.

“We must make sure we get a good result away in Zimbabwe before the return leg,” said Simba’s head coach Sven Vandenbroeck. The coach also included new signing Ugandan International Taddeo Lwanga on the 24-man squad.

Besides Simba SC, the other teams still carrying the flag for the Council of east and Central African Football Associations (Cecafa) in the Total CAF Champions League include Sudan’s El Merreikh who face Enyimba (Nigeria).

Another Sudanese side Al Hilal will take on Asante Kotoko (Ghana), while reigning Kenyan League champions Gor Mahia take on Algeria’s CR Belouizdad.
