TANZANIA NEWS: Giants Simba SC part ways with head coach Sven Vandenbroeck

Simba Sports Club have announced that they have parted ways with head coach Sven Vandenbroeck by mutual consent.

“The Board of Directors of Simba Sports Club announces to its members and fans that we have parted ways with our head coach Sven Vandenbroeck by mutual consent,” read a statement issued by the Club on Thursday.

The 21-time Tanzania Premier League champions thanked the Belgian for the good work he did with the Club since taking over in December 2019.

Vandenbroeck guided Simba SC to qualification for the lucrative group stage of the CAF Champions League on Wednesday after defeating Zimbabwe’s FC Platinum 4-0 in the return leg match played in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

“Simba Sports Club thank coach Sven for the success achieved during his time with the club where we won the Tanzanian Premier League, the FA Cup, the Community Shield and qualified for the group stage of the CAF Champions League,” added the statement.

Simba are currently second on the Vodacom Tanzania Premier League with nine points behind arch-rivals Young Africans (Yanga) who have 44 points. But Simba have three games in hand.

Simba SC who are set to kick start their 2021 Mapinduzi Cup campaign in Zanzibar today also made it clear that assistant coach Selemani Matola will be in-charge of the team till a new appointment will be made.
