Tanzania to battle Zambia in U-17 FIFA Women World Cup qualifiers
Tanzania have been drawn to face Zambia in the second round of the U-17 FIFA World Cup qualifier.
In the draw conducted on Thursday at the Confederation of African Football (CAF) headquarters in Cairo, Egypt only one match between the lowly ranked teams Central African Republic and Mauritius will be played in the first round.
The second round matches to be played between February 2-4 and the return leg February 9-11th 2024 will have 24 teams involved.
Nigeria will wait to face the first round winner between Central African Republic and Mauritius. While the Serengeti Girls of Tanzania who played at the U-17 FIFA Women’s U-17 World Cup in 2022 in India will start their campaign against a tricky Zambian team, Uganda will face on Cameroon. In-case Tanzania and Uganda jump the second round hurdle, they will face-off in the third round.
Ethiopia who failed at the last hurdle to qualify for the U-17 Women’s World Cup 2022 will take on South Africa. Interestingly Kenya who will face DR Congo in the second round will face the winner between DR Congo and Ethiopia in the third round.
Another team from the CECAFA Zone Djibouti will battle Equatorial Guinea, while Burundi take on Botswana.
The third round of the qualifiers will be played between May 10-12th and the return legs May 17-19th, 2024. The final round which will decide the best three teams that will qualify to represent Africa will take place June 7-9 and the return legs June 14-16th, 2024.
