Tanzania ready for FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup

Tanzania’s Serengeti Girls have concluded their camp in Southampton in England ahead of the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup 2022.

The team under the watchful eyes of coach Bakari Shime to leave England today and travel to India.

The Tanzanian team will be part of the 16 teams that will battle in the  FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup slated for October 11-30th, 2022 in India. Morocco and Nigeria are the other two African teams that will feature in the world event.

Shime told Cecafaonline that the camp in England has been very beneficial to the team. “ From a technical perspective the camp in England has benefited us a lot because we also managed to have some friendly matches that helped is fine tune several aspects,” added the coach.

The head coach made it clear that although they are going to face very experienced teams, his players are well prepared to prove a point at the competition. “We have all qualified for the World Cup and no team must be taken for granted,” added Shime.

Serengeti Girls will open their campaign with a match against Japan on October 12th. The Tanzanian team will face France in the second match on October 15th and after battle Canada after three days in the last Group D match.

Spain are the defending champions, while North Korea are the most successful team in the competition having won the title twice.
