South Sudan’s Gen. Maduot Parek in Torit County to promote grassroots Football

The President of the South Sudan Football Association (SSFA), Gen. Augustino Maduot Parek is in Torit County to promote grassroots football.

“We need to go back and develop football from the grassroots if we hope to change things for the better,” said Gen. Maduot Parek in Torit yesterday.

Torit County is located in the Eastern Equatoria State, in the southeastern part of South Sudan, close to the border with Uganda.

Gen. Maduot Parek who was elected SSFA President in July to replace Micheal Amin said with the many programs he is planning to have in place including grassroots football development, he is optimistic South Sudan has the potential to do much better.

He also says it will be very important for the government and the private sector to support football in the country.

“Since I was elected President of SSFA, I have had positive talks with the government and they have promised to support football. We shall continue engaging the government and the private sector to support football because we know the country has potential to perform much better ,” added Gen. Maduot Parek.

South Sudan has continues to show tremendous development and improvement in their football structures and the and national teams as well. In July 2021 their team finished third in the CECAFA U-23 Championship held in Bahir Dar, Ethiopia.
