South Sudan invited for FIFA Arab Cup 2021 in Qatar

The world football governing body, FIFA has invited South Sudan to feature in the FIFA Arab Cup 2021.

“We are happy that finally we are invited for the FIFA Arab Cup which will be good exposure for our players,” said the South Sudan Football Association (SSFA) president, Francis Amin Michael.

The tournament will take place between December 1-18th with majority of the games to be played at the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 stadiums.

In November last year during his visit to Qatar, FIFA president Gianni Infantino announced that 22 Arab nations from around the world will tussle it out in the FIFA Arab Cup 2021.

The other nations from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) that will compete in the tournament are: Algeria, Comoros, Djibouti, Egypt, Libya, Mauritania, Morocco, Somalia, Sudan and Tunisia.

The tournament will be delivered by FIFA, Qatar Football Association, the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy and the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 LLC. It is also seen as a vital opportunity to test operations and facilities ahead of FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.

Other teams that will participate include; Qatar, Bahrain, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Oman, Palestine, Saudi Arabia, Syria, United Arab Emirates and Yemen.
