Singida Fountain Gate humble Zanzibar’s JKU in Mapinduzi Cup
Tanzania Premier League side, Singida Fountain Gate FC kick made a good start in their Mapinduzi Cup campaign thumping JKU SC 4-1 in a match played on Friday at the Amaan Stadium in Zanzibar.
Elvis Rupia gave Singida Fountain Gate the lead after 17 minutes to take the match to 1-0 at half time.
After recess Rupia netted his second goal of the day in the 47th minute. But Saleh Madou Abdallah pulled one back for the Zanzibari side from the spot after 61 minutes.
In the last ten minutes of the match veteran Meddi Kagere and Fancy Kazadi added two more goals for Singida Fountain Gate FC to take them top of Group B.
In an earlier match Akram Omar Mhina netted a brace to guide KVZ FC to a 2-0 win against Jamhuri FC in a Group C match. On Thursday Burundi’s Vital’O settled for a goalless draw against Chipukizi United, while Azam FC also drew 0-0 with defending champions Mlandege FC in Group A ties.
Action continues today with Mlandege FC facing Vital ‘O, while Chipukizi battle Azam FC in Group A matches.
The Mapinduzi Cup is organised by the government of Zanzibar together with the Zanzibar Football Federation (ZFF).
