Simba SC to battle Vipers in Champions League Group stage

Two teams from the CECAFA Zone Simba SC (Tanzania ) and Uganda’s Vipers SC will face-off in the group stage of the 2022/2023 TotalEnergies CAF Champions League.

Simba SC who reached the quarter final stage two years ago have been placed to face Vipers SC, Raja CA (Morocco) and Guinea’s Horoya in Group C.

According to the draw conducted on Monday in Cairo, Egypt, Vipers SC will play their first match away to Raja CA, while Horoya host Simba SC between February 10-11th. The two CECAFA teams will first clash between February 24-25th when Vipers host Simba. The Tanzanian side will also host Vipers SC between March 4-7.

The other two teams from the CECAFA region and from Sudan have also been separated with Al Hilal placed in Group B alongside Coton Sport (Cameroon) and two former champions Al Ahly (Egypt), Mamelodi Sundowns (South Africa).

Al Merreikh are placed in Group D alongside Esperance (Tunisia), Zamalek (Egypt) and Algeria’s CR Belouizdad.

Group B: Al Ahly (Egypt), Mamelodi Sundowns (South Africa) Al Hilal (Sudan) Coton Sport (Cameroon)

Group C: Raja Club Athletic (Morocco), Horoya AC (Guinea) Simba SC (Tanzania) Vipers SC (Uganda)

Group D: Esperance (Tunisia) Zamalek (Egypt), CR Belouizdad (Algeria) Al Merreikh (Sudan)
