Simba Sports Club have narrowed the gap to eight points on table leaders Young Africans SC in the 2021/2022 NBC Tanzania Premier League.

Coach Franco Pablo Martin’s Simba SC on Wednesday picked a deserved 2-0 win against Kagera Sugar FC in a match played at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar el salaam.

Denis Kibu and John Bocco netted the first half goals to ensure Simba SC collected maximum points to close the gap on their arch-rivals Young Africans SC.

The win sent Simba SC to 49 points from the 23 matches played, while table leaders Young Africans SC who were held to a goalless draw by Tanzania Prisons FC on Monday have 57 points.

“We need to keep focused and keep winning our matches. This is a League and anything is still possible,” said Simba coach Franco Pablo Martin.

In the other matches played on Wednesday Coastal Union FC stopped Biashara FC 1-0, while Polisi Tanzania and Dodoma Jiji settled for a goalless draw.

After their elimination at the quarter final stage of the TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup last month by Orlando Pirates, Simba SC have now shifted their attention on the domestic competitions.
