Simba SC coach confident ahead of quarter final clash with Wydad Casablanca

Simba SC head coach, Robert Oliveira made it clear that they have the potential to make it to the semi-final stage of the 2022/2023 TotalEnergies CAF Champions League.

On Wednesday night the Tanzanian giants were drawn to face defending champions Wydad Casablanca (Morocco) at the quarter finals stage with the first leg to be played in Dar es Salaam on the weekend of April 21-22.

But Oliveira has made it clear that in the quarter finals of the CAF Champions League one cannot find an easy game. “We are facing a tough team in the quarters, but yes we can make it to the semis because we are also a good team,” said the Brazilian.

The experienced coach who also guided Uganda’s Vipers SC to the group stage of the 2022/2023 TotalEnergies CAF Champions League made it clear that he trusts the quality of he has to deliver.

In the other quarter final matches lined up record winners Al Ahly who beat Sudan’s Al Hilal in the last group match last weekend to qualify will battle Raja Casablanca (Morocco), while Algeria’s CR Belouizdad face former champions Mamelodi Sundowns (South Africa). Another Algerian side JS Kabylie will take on Esperance du Tunis (Tunisia).

Incase Simba SC make it to the semi-final stage, they will face the winner between CR Belouizdad and Mamelodi Sundowns. The semis will be played on May 12-13 with the second leg a week later.
