SIMBA INTER CUP 2021: Hosts Simba to open against Al Hilal
Tanzanian giants Simba Sports Club will face Al Hilal (Sudan) in the first match of the Simba Cup 2021 on Wednesday.
Simba will however play minus some of their key players who are with the national team for the Total Africa Nations Championship (CHAN) 2020 in Cameroon.
The tournament started by the Vodacom Tanzania Premier League reigning champions will take place at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium.
“We’re introducing a new tournament Simba Inter Cup that will involve 3 teams; Simba SC, TP Mazembe and Al Hilal from Sudan. The tournament will run from January 27 to 31, 2021,” says Simba SC’s Chief Executive Officer, Barbara Gonzalez.
On January 29th DR Congo’s TP Mazembe will face Al Hilal in the second match before Simba battle the former African champions in the last match two days later.
Simba SC is boosted by the arrival of a new coach Didier Gomes Da Rosa. The former Al Merriekh head coach replaced Belgian Sven Vandenbroeck who left over a week ago.
The three teams participating in the Super Inter Cup have all qualified for the group of the lucrative CAF Champions League.
