Rwanda, Uganda, Tanzania eagerly wait for 2020 CHAN draw
The draw for the 2020 Total Africa Nations Championship (CHAN) will be made today in Yaoundé, Cameroon. The cities of Yaounde, Doula and Limbe will host the final tournament April 4-25.
Former Cameroon Internationals Stephen Tataw and Salomon Olembe are expected to help in the draw process at Palais Polyvalent des Sports de Yaoundé.
Representatives from the Council of East and Central African Football Associations (CECAFA); Rwanda, Uganda and Tanzania will be eagerly waiting to see the groups they are placed in.
Rwanda who are the best ranked team in the CECAFA region for the tournament meant for footballers playing in their domestic leagues are placed in Pot 2 for the draw that also has Guinea, Mali and former champions DR Congo.
Rwanda’s newly confirmed coach Vincent Mashami said they are waiting to see where the draw places them. “We are determined to work hard and make sure we perform much better that in 2018 when we failed to make it out of the Group,” added Mashami.
There is a chance of the three CECAFA representatives facing off in the same group since they are placed in different Pots for the draw.
Morocco are the CHAN defending champions after they humbled Nigeria 4-0 in the 2018 final. At the same tournament Sudan finished third, while other CECAFA representatives Uganda and Rwanda all fell out in the Group stage.

Pot 2: DR Congo, Guinea, Mali, Rwanda
Pot 3: Uganda, Congo Brazzaville, Namibia, Burkina Faso
Pot 4: Zimbabwe, Niger, Togo, Tanzania
