Loki on target as South Sudan hold AFCON bound Sierra Leone 1-1

South Sudan earned a 1-1 draw against Sierra Leone in the first match of the 4-Nations tournament played in El Jadida, Morocco last night.

With four minutes of added time substitute Emmanuel Loki nodded in a free kick to make it 1-1 at the was quick to nod in a cross to make it 1-1 Stade Ben Ahmed El Abdi, El Jadida.

England based striker Sullay Kakiki had given the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) bound Sierra Leone team the lead after 40 minutes.

The Wycombe Wanderers FC striker received a neat pass from the right wing and run past one defender before shooting past the South Sudan goalkeeper.

But the Bright Star continued to settle in the game and create some good scoring opportunities with Tito Okello missing three.

Care taker coach Simon James Yor was in-charge of the South Sudan team, while the newly appointed head coach Stefano Cusin watched the match from the stands.

Today Morocco’s CHAN team will face Gambia in the second match of the 4-Nations Mini tournament. The Bright Star will return to action against Morocco’s CHAN team on October 9th, before they take on Gambia on October 12th.

Gen. Augustino Maduot Parek, the President of the South Sudan Football Association (SSFA) said these matches will help the new coach assess players and also give the team good exposure. “This mini tournament has come at the best time since we have also just got a new coach,” added Parek.
