Kawempe Muslim Ladies determined to impress in Addis Ababa

Uganda’s Kawempe Muslim Ladies have vowed to impress when they make their debut in the CAF Women’s Champions League, CECAFA qualifiers.

The Zonal qualifiers which will attract nine teams will take place August 17-31st in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

 Ayub Khalifah Kiyingi, Kawempe Muslim Ladies head coach told cecafaonline that although they will be making their first appearance in the tournament, the team is determined to battle for qualification to represent the Zone at the final African tournament.

“I am happy we are going to represent the country for the first time. Looking at the teams we have in the group, some of them like Simba Queens and PVP Buyenzi have the experience and we must be at our best,” added the coach.

He made it clear that although the group they are placed in looks fair, they will have to battle and take every match like a final through to the knock out stage, and later plan on how to jump the hurdle in the semis and final.

Kawempe Muslim Ladies are placed are placed in Group B alongside Simba Queens (Tanzania), PVP Buyenzi (Burundi) and FAD Djibouti. Commercial Bank of Ethiopia WFC who have played in all the past qualifiers are placed in Group A alongside, Yei Joint Stars (South Sudan), Warriors Queens WFC (Zanzibar), Rayon Sports WFC (Rwanda) and Kenya Police Bullets.
