Giants Simba, Young Africans set for 2021 Mapinduzi Cup in Zanzibar
Top sides in the Vodacom Tanzania Premier League, Simba SC and Young Africans (Yanga) will take part in the 2021 Mapinduzi Cup slated for January 5-13th at the Amaan Stadium in Zanzibar.
The tournament organized by the government of Zanzibar will attract five teams from Tanzania Main land and four from Zanzibar.
Besides the giants Simba and Yanga, the other teams from Tanzania Mainland that will take part include Namungo FC, Azam FC and defending champions of the Mapinduzi Cup Mtibwa Sugar FC.
“We expect a very competitive competition since all teams are busy preparing,” said the chairman of the Mapinduzi Cup organising Committee, Khamis Abdalla Said.
The tournament will start with Mtibwa Sugar facing Chipukizi in the opening match on January 5th before Yanga take on Jamhuri FC later at night in the second game.
The group stage of the competition will end on January 10th before the semi-finals are played the next fay and the final on January 13th.
Group A: Yanga, Namungo, Jamhuri
Group B: Simba, Mtibwa, Chipukizi
Group C: Azam, Malindi, Mlandege
