The Ethiopian national team, Walia ibex will host Uganda Cranes in an international friendly match on August 29th in the town of Bahir Dar.

The two teams will use the match to prepare ahead of the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers which start in September.

Ahmed Hussien, the Uganda FA Communications manger says the friendly match against Ethiopia will be the last build-up before the team heads to Nairobi to face Kenya on September 2nd in a 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifier.

“The team under coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic will first play two international friendly matches against Syria while camping in Jordan before flying to Ethiopia for the last build-up game. These friendly matches will help the technical bench assess the players better,” added Hussein.

While Ethiopia will open their 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign away to Ghana, the Uganda Cranes will take on arch-rivals Kenya on September 2nd in Nairobi.

The other teams from the CECAFA region that will battle in the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers include; Djibouti, Tanzania, Rwanda and Sudan.
