Ethiopia host Nigeria in crucial FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup qualifier

Ethiopia face a tough hurdle when they host Nigeria in the first leg of the last round in the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup 2022 qualifier this afternoon.

After eliminating South Africa in the third round of the qualifiers, coach Endalkachew Chaka will he hoping that his team can pick a positive result in the first leg at the Abebe Bekila Stadium.

“We have prepared well and the team is ready to take on Nigeria. It is important to take our chances in this home game before we travel for the away match,” said Coach Chaka.

Emush Daniel, who has netted two goals in the campaign for Ethiopia said the team is determined to get a good result. “We know Nigeria is not an easy team, but we are prepared,” added Emush Daniel.

The home side will have to keep a close watch on Nigeria’s leading goal scorers Bello Omowunmi and Adeshina Oluwatunminimu.

The other match taking place today will see Ghana host Morocco in the first leg, while another team from the CECAFA region Tanzania play Cameroon away on Sunday at the Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium in Yaounde.

Three teams will qualify to represent Africa at the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup 2022 to be hosted by India.
