Ethiopia eliminate Rwanda in FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup qualifiers
Ethiopia have qualified for the second round of the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup qualifiers.
The Ethiopian team defeated Rwanda 4-0 in the second leg match played at the Bahir Dar Stadium this afternoon.
Mesay Temesgen and Tourist Lemma gave the home side a 2-0 half time lead, before Aregash Kalsa returned with a brace in the second half.
Ethiopia qualified for the second round on an 8-0 goal aggregate and will now wait to face the winner between Tanzania and Eritrea.
The other qualifying matches on card for the CECAFA teams will see Burundi face Namibia on Thursday in a match to be played in Johannesburg, South Africa. Burundi won the first leg 3-0.
Uganda who humbled Kenya 7-2 in the first leg in Nairobi will also hope to seal their qualification for the next round when they face-off on Friday at the St. Marys Stadium, Kitende.
After the second round eight teams will qualify for the third round before they eventually make it to the last round where the best two teams will qualify for the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup to be hosted by Costa Rica.
