El Merreikh to host Zanaco in Egypt

Sudan’s top side El Merreikh will play their home match of the  2021/2022 second preliminary round TotalEnergies CAF Champions League in Egypt.

El Merreikh will host the first leg between October 15-17, before the second leg is played in Zambia between October 22-24th.

The development comes after the Confederation of African Football (CAF) did not approve any Stadium in Sudan suitable to host international matches.

El Merreikh who ejected Uganda’s Express FC in the first round will face Zambia’s Zanaco FC in the next round. El Merreikh communicated to CAF on Wednesday where they will host their next game.

Sudan’s second team in the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League Al Hilal and still renovating their Stadium hoping that it will be cleared to host an international match.

The other teams from the CECAFA region that will battle in the second preliminary round of the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League include; Tusker FC (Kenya), APR FC (Rwanda) and Simba SC (Tanzania) who finished at the quarter final stage last season.
