El Merreikh SC in Uganda to face Express

The Sudan Premier League reigning champions El Merreikh are in Uganda ready to face Express FC in the first leg preliminary round of the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League.

Express FC will host the Sudan side on Friday at the St. Marys Stadium, Kitende.

Although Express FC return to the international stage after over seven years, El Merreikh have been regular campaigners in the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League.

But Express FC boost of a lot of confidence having lifted the Uganda Premier League and the regional CECAFA Kagame Club Championship.

Wasswa Bbosa, the Express FC head coach told Cecafaonline  that he is impressed with the level of readiness his team has showed. “I know El Merreikh have been playing continental football for many years, but we have prepared well for them,” added Bbosa.

The other matches in the preliminary round of the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League involving teams from the CECAFA region include KMKM SC (Zanzibar) taking on Libya’s Al Attihad, AS Arta Solar (Djibouti) facing Tusker FC (Kenya), Mogadishu Club (Somalia) against APR FC (Rwanda), and Fasil Kenema SC (Ethiopia) battling Al Hilal (Sudan).

Tanzania’s Young Africans SC  will also be facing Rivers United (Nigeria), while Le Messager De Ngozi (Burundi) take on Niger’s US Gendarmerie Nationale.
