Young Africans SC have ejected Geita Gold FC to storm the semi final stage of the Tanzania FA Cup, also called the Azam Sports Federation Cup.

The two NBC Tanzania Premier League sides had tied 1-1 before Young Africans won 7-6 on penalties in a math played at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium on Sunday.

It was Malian national team goalkeeper Djigui Diarra who saved Geita Gold’s penalty kick to ensure Young Africans qualified for the semi final.

Diarra had also missed his penalty kick, but made amends by saving one and sending his team to the final.

Hoffem Chikola gave Geita Gold FC the lead after 88 minutes, but Djuma Shaban leveled matters from the spot after three minutes of added time to take the match into penalty kicks.

In the remaining quarter final matches Coastal Union will face Kagera Sugar FC, while Azam FC take on Polisi Tanzania and Cup holders Simba SC face Pamba FC.
